Perlin Haus has a long and special history.

Built in 1841, the house originally served as the parsonage for the Evangelical Lutheran Church that still stands next door. It is also the birthplace of German engineer, poet, and writer Heinrich Seidel.

During the years of the DDR, Perlin Haus was used as a place where children could spend time during the summer, including while their parents were away on vacation.

In 1994, Prof. Dr. Helmut Nespital and Dr. Heide Nespital purchased Perlin Haus, and in 1995 they began renovating and restoring the property.

A new chapter began in 2014 when their daughter, Dr. Daniela Holloway, and her husband, Russell Holloway, felt called to rededicate Perlin Haus to God’s work. Two young women, Jess Gibson and Ilana Poole, came to live in the house for a season, spending time in prayer and asking God to reveal what the future of Perlin Haus might hold.

In the years that followed, Perlin Haus began to be used as a place of Christian fellowship, retreat, and ministry. Buddy and Krista Brewer, who were serving as missionaries in Hamburg at the time, used the house as a retreat location and celebrated baptisms there with members of their church in 2016.

Since 2017, Kai and Sara Häveker and their family have made Perlin Haus their home. During their years there, a vibrant Christian community called K99 grew around the house. Church gatherings were held at Perlin, along with fellowship, ministry, and a Friday youth group through Royal Rangers.

Through many seasons, Perlin Haus has been a place of rest, prayer, and fellowship. Today, we hope to continue the vision begun in 2014: a home dedicated to God’s work and open to what He has planned next.
